Robin Wants Argies...
Robin van Persie can't wait for Hollands clash with the in-form Argentina following their win over the Ivory Coast. Argentina put 6 past Serbia and Montego Bay and the two play off for top spot in the group. RVP, a scorer against the Ivory Coast said: "Now we can play that game with a different feeling and be more relaxed, it could be a fantastic game for our feeling and confidence. We want to put on a great game. We hope to have the feeling of being in the world championship for a long time..."
Wenger to Madrid ... Yawn (again)...
Not sure why we even bother nicking this stuff any more, but Real Madrid presidential candidate Juan Miguel Villar Mir has again claimed he is in talks with le Boss to take over the Madrid hot seat. Wenger's current Arsenal contract expires in 2008, he will lead the team out at a £400m, 60,000 all seater stadium next season, and he has some of the worlds best promising players, and the world's best player at his disposal... just thought I'd mention it...
Henry Scores in Draw...
Thierry Henry was on the score sheet for France on Sunday night, scoring a typical Henry strike againt South Korea. However it proved to be not enough as man united's
Park Ji-Sung netted a late equaliser. Amazingly, Henry's goal was the first for France since Manu Petit's goal in France 98, then again, Sylvain Wiltord still plays up front for them...
Wenger's Aim is Aimo...
As the summer transfer rumour mill gathers pace, ready to grind at it's full on floury power, the red top, tabloid web monkeys reckon we're set to 'battle it out' with Spurs for the Italian international midfield star Aimo Diana. The Sampdoria star could command a fee of up to £4m. Probably...
Play Walcott Says Turnip...
Graham Taylor, the ex-England manager once branded a turnip, insists Theo Walcott should play against Sweden on Tuesday night as England look to secure top spot in Group [whatever group we're in]. "Sweden is an opportunity to put in a good performance because we haven't played all that well, a good performance will send England into the knockout stages high in confidence. England have three players on yellow cards. If any of those pick up another one, then we lose them for vital knockout games. So this an opportunity to play Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney up front and have young Walcott come on. If we don't do that then when are going to see him? I can't understand why we haven't taken five forwards to Germany. I've always felt that and it's becoming a problem now..."
Kuyt Flying in to Ashburton...?
Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt is thought to be close to signing for Liverpool, ending any hopes Arsenal and comedy partners Spurs had of signing the 25 year old. It's rumoured that Liverpool have agreed a £10m figure for the player. It's also thought that Liverpool are close to signing Blackburn's liability of a striker the Welshman Craig Bellamy. That's all from LiverpoolShorts.com for now.
We think today's update was absolute shit. That's why we're giving our fee for this update to Great Ormond Street.
