As the World Cup cracks on at breakneck speed, its old rumours aplenty today, starting with...
Ab Trab...
Here's a transfer rumour phoenix which has risen from the flames of untruth, reports reckon we could be back in for highly rated defender Hatem Trabelsi 'according to the player's agent'. The player who upon Tunisia's exit from this World Cup has now retired upon which, has over 60 caps for his country, and has been linked with a move to Arsenal several times before, previously.
Trabelsi's agent Franklin Sedoc (why do all agents have such tremendous names?) claims we are more that just expressing a passing interest in the right back: "There's a contract ready for him at Arsenal, I can show you that. I get calls from English clubs every day. Manchester City and West Ham have been in contact. Hatem definitely wants to play in the Champions League and he's not going to stay in Holland..." Spurs should be in with a bid soon then, as soon as their hard working, crack scouts read this...
Kahn Ticked Off...
Oliver Kahn still can't understand the decision to drop him from the German national side, our very own Jens Lehmann being preferred to the square headeded giant. Kahn said: "There was talk he (Lehmann) was supposedly better than me, but do you replace a long-time number one, who is playing constantly, just because someone else is a tick better? That is no explanation for me. And since there has been none as of today, there is probably none. I told him I could never understand why I am not the number one anymore..." Get over it, Ginge.
Robin Out of World Cup...
The Dutch are out of the World Cup, beaten at the hands of the Portugueuse, who in turn booked a semi-final match against Brazil (with a friendly win against England in between). Robin van Persie featured in a bad tempered affair littered with 239 yellow cards, 83 reds and a nice Happy ASBO card from CardFayre, your one stop shit card shop, for all your pikey cardboard needs™
Wenger Keen on Buffon...?
Despite us having Germany's number one between the sticks, Sky Sports are still reporting that we are interested in Italy and Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon, who they claim is said to be 'open' to a move to Arsenal. It's thought that there's a slim chance that Jooventus could be relegated to Serie B, and his agent reckons a deal is on the cards, with contact being made... you never know and all that...
We're Sooooooo Sorry...
Nice apology in The Sun today which will break a few Spurs fans hearts at a guess... they reckon DJ Masterstepz and Ashley Cole are not a pair of raging bummers after all, still, it sold a few papers, thats the main thing, eh?
Their apology read: "The Sun would like to categorically and vehemently apologise for accusing Sir Ashley Cole, of St. Albans, Hertfordshire of smashing in the back doors of Mr. David John Masterstepz in a gay manner or otherwise. Ashley Cole has never seen, touched, nor smashed in said back doors, and this random made up act of homosexual activity did not happen, and it did not involve a mobile phone being used for said smashing, or indeed for any other purpose other than for what it was designed for, like talking, listening and sending txt msgs. Soz. LOL."
He'd Be Appiah at Arsenal...
Couple of Sunday papers reckon we're keen on Ghanaian captain Stephen Appiah again. Appiah currently plays in Turkey for Fenerbache, so perhaps could be integral in the move for Sol Campbell if this sentence, which I just made up is anything to go by...
Go On, Go On, Go On, Gyan...
Another Ghana star, Asamoah Gyan also wants to come to the Premiership, perfect fodder for the tabloids and a link to Arsenal. His Sweden-based agent Patrik Mork (another quality agent name) has said said the £4m rated man is talking to 3 Premership sides: "Gyan is perfect for England. There is a lot of interest in him..."
Bad Korea Move...
Big, brave lion hearted Phil Senderos is out of the World Cup, and could be out of footballing action for up to six weeks after damaging a shoulder in the Swiss win over South Korea. Senderos scored a proper centre backs goal, smashed his nose in and then dislocated a shoulder as he singlehandedly saw off the plucky Asians. Swiss team Doc said: "He will have a scan to see if there are any additional problems and at the moment surgery is not necessary, he should be able to play again in five or six weeks..." The Swiss will play the Ukraine on Monday in the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2006...
