Ajax 1 - 2 Arsenal
Two trophies, two tournaments, couldn't ask for more than that Ted. A wonder goal from Robin van Persie was enough to see us conquer Europe in what some people (well... me) were billing as the Champions League Cup Final dress rehearsal. A bad tempered affair saw several bookings, RVP stretchered off at the death (of the game, not his own) due to a scything, cinical challenger from Wesley Snipes. All preparation is good preperation unless you play shite like the Kaiser Chiefs and the Orlando Pirates, but anyway, bring on the Fulham... Members Day tomorrow mind...

RVP Fuming...
New Jeremie Aliadiere Robin Van Persie has been having a right old go at old Freddie Ljungberg, Freddie Ljungberg. After Ljungbergs unceremonious dumping from the squad and subsequent move to them West Hammers, Freddie was quick to cite Arsene Wengers inactivity in the transfter market, and Jeremie Aliadiere's departure as the reason behind his leaving. RVP, a now confirmed Arsenal man, said: "If you play nine years at a club like Arsenal you can say some nice words, of you’re coming up with excuses about Jeremie's departure and about promises from the club it’s a bit weak. I was disappointed and I know a few others were as well. He had a fantastic period, he was once the best player in England, so come on and say some nice things for this club, which is fantastic..."

Sir Wenger is happy with RVPs progress as Sir Wenger looks to instill him as the new main striker next term: "Robin has been transformed in a very good way since he arrived, he has become a great passer of the ball as well as a talented player. Like any talented player, he is always worried about individual skills but he has improved and, for me, become a complete team player..."

While we're on the subject of attacking options that aren't Jeremie Aliadiere, Sir Wenger was also quick to heap praise on Nicklas Bendtner: "At the moment he is a raw talent, Nicklas is not completely ready to start in the Premiership and I wanted to give him as many games as I could in pre-season to help him understand what is needed. He is an intelligent and open-minded boy. We can have a frank discussion on what he has to do and he listens, then tries to do it. He is very, very confident, too. When you see a guy like that take the ball and take a penalty [against PSG] in his first game, that means he does not lack confidence..."

Argentinaean Wonder Kid Linked...
...no, not that one, cheeky, but some fella being called the brightest talent to come out of Argentina since that big fella Diego Marandona, 18 year old Franco D Santo - sounds made up to us. Any road the '18 year old' if that is his real age, plays for Audux Italiano in Chile 'if that is his real club' and has met with Arsenal representatives, and 'representatives' from other clubs such as Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Blackburn and Manchester City all also all set for talks...

Cherry Records...
...a move to Bournemouth. Ex-APY Ryan Garry has joined Bournemouth after a successful (obviously) trial with the club. Garry only ever appeared twice in an Arsenal shirt, once against a team, and the other against a different one, in the Carling Cup, you can betcha neck...

Rubbish, thank Tone is the end of the close season ... yawn.
