Dennis the Menace...
Dennis Rommedahl, the fountain of all Premiership knowledge, who holds as many Premiership winners medals as Spurs and Liverpool put together, reckons that we will struggle next season. The Dutchman said: "There will be bigger and stronger teams who will also be technical but more physical. They will beat Arsenal..." Thanks for that, stand over there, in the queue that says 'Slag Off Arsenal For No Apparent Reason' - there's a good chap.
Captain Sol...
Sol Campbell has been linked with a shock recall to Steve McLaren's England squad. The towering Hollywood hulk of lavender and fur trim has been playing well for Portsmouth, and has been made Captain, and could now line up in an England shirt for the first time since 2006...
Bill Gets Tough...
In today's The Sun, Willy Glass is claiming that we are not going to be a push over by any means this season, and we're ready to 'hit back' and the filthy teams who try and push us about. Gallas said: “I don’t know exactly what has happened but something has changed within the club this summer. Opponents will not be able to kick Arsenal any more. We are ready to give our answer to that sort of thing. Our players now understand how they have to play at certain times. We know we can always score at any time because we have so much quality up front, but now we also realise we have to fight, to be compact and defend very well..."
Gallas added: “In the past week we have beaten Paris St Germain, Inter Milan, Lazio and Ajax. I could just sense that the spirit in the squad was different. Everyone was fighting for their team-mates. It made me realise they are ready for this season. They won’t be bullied this time. No one will be able to call them kids any more and age will no longer be an excuse for not doing well. They are young players who really want to win a trophy this time. They don’t want people to be saying, ‘Oh yes, Arsenal — they are still kids. And when we train together I don’t see kids. I only see players who are ready for the fight..."
When asked about the departure of his great friend Jeremie Aliadiere, Gallas said: "I am a good friend of Jegzy so I wasn’t surprised when he went because I speak to him all the time. It was his decision to go and no one can question that. Everyone knows what a great player he is and what a good job he did for Arsenal. I hope he will be happy with Barcelona — but now he has left and we have to move on. We have to prove we can play without him and I am very confident the players we have at Arsenal are good enough to replace him. There has been a lot of talk about Tottenham and other teams finishing above Arsenal this season . . . well, we’ll see about that. Tottenham want to finish above us and we will do everything to make sure that does not happen, but our aim is not to finish above Tottenham. It is to finish in front of everyone and win the title..."
Thats the spirit.
Argie Bargie...
More reports linking us with a move for Agentine youngster Franco Di Santo...
Hleb Confident...
According to them Sky Sporters, Alex Hleb is confident in our squad, depsite other teams bg spending in the transfer market. "I like Liverpool's transfer policy best of all, Torres, Lukas Leiva, Babel, Voronin, Benayoun - buying them one after the other is impressive. We've only had a few acquisitions. But the squad is very good. At the moment I still don't know how we will live without (Jeremie) Aladiere. He is a great player and a part of Arsenal, but he wanted to leave. No one is irreplaceable and him leaving is not a tragedy..."
Hleb has a dream, bit like that Martin Luther King fella, however Hlebs dream is to score 10 goals next season: It's my dream to score 10 or more goals this season..." See...?
Villa in £2m Bid for Hoyte...
