Firstly, thanks for all the emails congratulating us on the Di Maria rumour, not sure congratulations are entirely appropriate, but I know what you mean, thanks anyway! My favourite twist on the story was this one. Namely this quote: "Di Maria is highly regarded in the Argentinian league and scouting reports by Giles Grimandi have been very favourable..." Wonder how they know that? Also, can't leave it without a link to TribalFootball's take on it...

Couple of quotes from a message board which I liked: "The Arsenal Shorts website is just trying to make a name for itself...if you read anything on that horrendous website, everything is misspelled and the grammar is f****g horrible....I HIGHLY doubt SSN would fall for that s**t again. Arsenal shorts deserves to be taken off the net those c**nts, they think they're world famous when in reality I highly doubt anyone besides stupid fans visit that site..."

Talking of poor grammar and spelling, the next quote reads: "yea i think there trying to make it look like a hoax but i dont belive it to be honest i think they made it up after the story to try and look cleaver which obviously there not..."

Also, thanks to the bloke who subscribed us to numerous newsletters on Friday, hilarious, only trouble is, you didn't bank on us getting your IP address in the confirmation emails. Whoops! Of course, we'll let you know once we've decided what to do with it (or probably afterwards actually) here's hoping you did it from work. Also, fairly amsuing that every single newsletter required validation, so bit of a waste of your time really. Not sure why you did it, you must be sticking up for the lazy journalists who didn't research the Di Maria story properly, good luck with that, don't forget to do the same for the other sites who have done similar things, there's a good lad... all getting a bit out of hand now, so no more made up stories by us from now on. Honest, thats the end of scurrillous rumours from us. On to proper news...

Van the Man...
Sir Wenger says in the The Sun that with the departure of Jose Antonio and Jeremie Aliadiere he is fully expecting Robin van Persie to be the main main next season. Van Persie is already banging them in, with two goals against Genclerbirligi on Thursday, but Wenger wants more. AW said: "Robin can score goals. He’s a good mixture between Dennis Bergkamp, a typical goalscorer and a tremendous player like Aliadiere. So let’s hope he can mix his game well, I think he is developing very, very well. He has become more mature and he benefits from the good work of Emmanuel Adebayor, who makes room for him. The two always combine well together. We have also signed Eduardo da Silva. Why should we sign another striker? We don’t collect them — we buy the strikers we need. And we expect Nicklas Bendtner to move forward and show us some aspects of his talent this season too...."

Non to Anelka Move...
Sir Wenger has categorically denied making a move for Nicolas Anelka, despite rumours gathering pace of Wenger re-signing the sulky French boy. In l'Equipe, Wenger says: "Nicolas Anelka won't come..." He also says that Nicklas EastEnders will get his chance, and Wenger expects him, like RVP to do his bit...

Takeover-tastic...
Stan Kronke and Bernie Ecclescake are the latest rich fellas being linked with a takeover of Arsenal. It's thought that Krankie is about to meet the board, and that Ecclescake in a throwaway comment which basically translated as: "never say never..." No wonder we have to make stuff up, with rubbish like this circulating... the actual quote: "I'll buy anything if it's cheap enough though. If somebody offers me something that I think is good value, I'll have a go..." done deal then, expect the players to be driving F1 cars to training next week...
