Trio Ready for Kick Off...
Despite missing the Peace-- I mean Emirates Cup, Emmanual Adebayor, Theo and Tomas Rosicky will be all set for the start of the new season next weekend. Sir Wenger has groomed all but 3 of his squad back to full fitness after the harrowing end of last season, but insists they'll all be fit for our game against Fulham on August 12th: "We worked very hard in Austria and there was such heat that we have lost Emmanuel Adebayor, Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott for the tournament. The good news is that it is a question of days not weeks. They will be ok for Ajax and everybody will be ready for the start of the season..."

Making a Meal of It...
The The News of the World had an exclusive this weekend, capturing an image of Sir Wenger and David Dein leaving a restaurant together. They beef up the story with this made-up quote: "The conversation was intense, Dein mentioned ex-skipper Jeremie Aliadiere a couple of times and I heard words like ‘plans' and ‘the way forward'..." Upon leaving the restaurant, a journalist wished DD luck for the rest of the season, and he replied: "Thanks, WE'RE gonna need it..." (insert AWIMBs Sherlock icon, and Yikes icon here...) Sir Wenger was quick however to scotch rumours of any clandestine liaisons, saying he and Double D had been friends before Arsenal, and were just having dinner together...

Talking of making a meal of it, this is by far the highlight of the weekends websites. And if Jol's hunger did power Top Four Tottenham, they could win the Champions League this season, and they're not even in it (again).

Also loving the news on Friday that TFT's fans top optimistic fans poll... surely they have for the last ooh... 120 years...? When the year ends in one and all that...

Emirates Champions...
With 2-1 victories over both PSG, and Inter Milan, Sir Wengers boys lifting the inaugural Emirates Cup at the aptly named Emirates, after a festival of what some might call football. On Saturday, the boys downed PSG with goals from Bentndner and Flamini leaving us behind on goal difference in the Emirates totaliser, but another 2-1 victory over Inter Milan (RVP and the Hleb) on Sunday was enough for us to take the trophy and perhaps silence some of our critics, but I doubt it. Top Four Tottenham are said to be 'slightly worried' like a sheep with one eye on the wolf, about their already confirmed top four status... and our odds of relegation have been sliced from Evens, down to 2/1... Great performances from a lot of players this weekend, notably RVP, Eboue, Clichy and new boy Sagna... the future in next season's Championship is looking bright already... bring on the Grimsby...

Rumours...
We could be about to bid on £11m rated midfielder Luka Modric from Zagreb... we could also be about to follow up the rumours from a few weeks ago with a move for Chelsea's 22-year-old midfielder Lassana Diarra... more rumours about Nicolas Anelka, who could join either us, or Valencia, despite Wengers denial of any interest. Jose Antonio Reyes could join Athletico MAdrid today as they're prepared to pay for him that Real Madrid...

There were also rumours floating around of a move for Glenn Roeder, now I know Alexander Hleb occasionally gives the ball away out of midfie--- ... oh right, as Director of Football... Loving all the big boys news over the weekend, BBC and Sky, to name but two: "Arsenal miss out on Di Maria..." Righto.

Spend Spend Spend...?
Sir Wenger could be about to follow the signings of Sagna, Fabianski and Edward O'Silva with more big names if this quote is to be believed: "We have the potential to do it. If I find the right player, I will take him. If I find two, I will do it, but it is not compulsory. If we do not get them, we do not get them. We have enough quality. That will not be an excuse if I do not get a player, not to compete..."

AW, denied any move for Nicolas Anelka: "At the moment I have not made any offer for Anelka, I felt we had the strikers we needed, and also I wanted a player like Eduardo, who can play on the flanks and with (Emmanuel) Adebayor, or with (Robin) van Persie. That is why we have gone for Eduardo, and it was more a question of choice rather than the quality of Anelka, because I rate him very highly. It was just we have others who play in the same position..."

Ab Fab, We Can Win the League...
Cesc Fabregas reckons we'll be up there when May comes despite losing several key names this summer. He said: "While I respect the decisions of Aliadiere and Ljungberg, I believe this team can fight for the title. The Premiership favourites are the same as last year - Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and us, and if we begin as a force, I do not discard the chance of Arsenal winning the title..." Happy days, take note Gallas, you plum.

Cesc added: "My ambition is to win titles with Arsenal, even though the chance to join Real Madrid was sensational. We got to the Champions League final in 2005, often playing without players like Aliadiere, Ljungberg and Ashley Cole. The advantage of Arsenal is in our age. We are young, but each time we gain more experience and this year are set to spring many surprises. I have matured very much over the last two years and I am prepared to be the leader of the team..."

More later people... big week, we have a hunch...
